Contribution to the Environment Award
5th November 2013
The Gore District Community Awards was a great celebration on Friday night, our team were elated to be announced as Runners-Up in the Contribution to the Environment category!
We are very proud to have received this award and honoured that the Gore District Council have recognised our company's efforts.
Our fine particle fertiliser is fertiliser that has been finely ground to the consistency of flour...boosting it's efficiency because the nutrients are more readily available, and reducing environmental impact because lesser amounts of nutrients are required.
The fine particle size means reduced leaching and runoff, as well as reduced nutrient loadings on soils and waterways. It also means very accurate distribution of nutrient to the plants.
Because we soil test and custom-make every fertiliser mix, it's better for the environment as nothing is over-applied, so nothing builds up dangerously in the soil or leaches into our waterways. Because we apply in a slurry form, no fertiliser is blown away in the wind.
Other factors also taken into consideration were that in our day to day business we work hard to eliminate our impact on the environment. We collect and re-use our fertiliser bags and containers, then they are recycled when they can no longer be used. We have recently installed three silos for storing raw materials in bulk, rather than using bags to store them.
We are organically certified with BioGro NZ.
We believe we offer our farmers a better fertiliser option for pastures and soil, animal health, production and of course, for our environment. Remember to not just think about the fertiliser you are putting on now and the effect it will have now, but also think about how it will effect you and your family (and our enviornment) in the future.
